New: A new organization has emerged in October 2022 as an international resource of information about the potential health effects of EMFs on human biology. The International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields (ICBE-EMF) is headed by Ron Melnick, the toxicologist who headed the National Toxicology Program at the National Institutes of Health that found evidence of harm to rats and mice from long-term exposure to radio frequency radiation (RFR). A 2022 synopsis by the online journal Environmental Health explains the ground-breaking influence this new organization, the ICBE-EMF, is having on the effort to bolster the understanding that radio frequency radiation does indeed have documented health effects, countering the narrative from industry and industry-influenced governmental regulatory agencies that say that RFR exposure is safe for humans. The article is entitled, Scientific evidence invalidates health assumptions underlying the FCC and ICNIRP exposure limit determinations for radiofrequency radiation: implications for 5G. The title of the article says it all.

New: Professor Joel Moskowitz, Ph.D. at the School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley has compiled a new summary of research on the health effects of exposure to wireless radiation and other EMFs. Note: A landmark ruling was issued on August 13, 2021 by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia on the lawsuit brought by the Childrens Health Defense (CHD) and the Environmental Health Trust (EHT) this past January, 2021. Plaintiffs won their case against the FCC when the appellate judges ruled that the FCC did not provide a valid reason backing its claim that its guidelines are sufficiently protective of the public regarding human exposure to Radio Frequency EMFs. The FCC was ordered to explain why it did not take existing evidence into account that Radio Frequency EMFs cause harm to human health when issuing its original guidelines in 1996. The court, in fact, found the FCC in violation of the Administrative Procedure Act. The ruling states, in part:

Note: We saw very positive developments from the recent FCC hearing at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Two prominent EMF safety groups, the Childrens Health Defense (CHD) and the Environmental Health Trust (EHT), jointly petitioned the court to compel the FCC to change the way it issues safety guidelines for the American people and base them upon harmful biological effects from Radio Frequency (RF) radiation rather than just thermal effects, as the FCC has done for 25 years. It was clear by their questioning that this three-judge panel had done their homework and was well aware that the FCC had avoided tackling the serious health threat to the American people from RF radiation caused by the widespread use of wireless devices in people’s lives now, especially for children, compared to 1996 when current FCC guidelines were first adopted. A ruling is expected within the next six months. Note: EMF blogger Lloyd Burrell launched his Healing With Vibration Summit the week of September 22 through 28, 2020, with a replay on October 3 and 4. Lloyd interviewed many of us in the spring of 2020, including me (Oram). Lloyd wanted to approach EMFs from the standpoint of energy and vibration. Note: I have updated my 5G article. I wrote an entirely new update on August 17, 2020 with important information from industry watchdog Doug Dawson, President of CCG Consulting. That was followed by another, brief update on 10/29/20 (a new update will be forthcoming sometime this autumn of 2021). In the August 2020 update, Doug provided eye-opening insight into just what technology is being installed by the cell industry, and what isn’t. Doug gave great detail on what new technologies are coming with 5G and when. The information will surprise you, and it helps us to better understand what is really going on with 5G deployment in cities and towns throughout the U.S. I also have my summary tables explaining what each cell company is doing in each frequency band. Note: The Nation magazine has released online an expose, to be published as a cover story in their April 23, 2018 print edition, on the lengths to which the cell phone industry has actively hidden and distorted the information over the decades that radio frequency radiation from wireless devices causes harm to people. It also discusses how things will be worse, with no prior testing, from the rollout of the next (fifth) generation, or 5G, of cell phone technology, part of the “Internet of Things” (IoT). Entitled, “How Big Wireless Made Us Think That Cell Phones Are Safe: A Special Investigation: The disinformation campaign–and massive radiation increase–behind the 5G rollout.”, the article was written by Mark Hertsgaard and Mark Dowie. Note: The California Department of Health Office of Public Affairs just issued the most comprehensive cell phone warning of any state. This occurred after a task force within their department drafted the guidelines back in 2009 and continued to update them, but the main agency dragged their heels in releasing it until a court order forced them to do so. That court order was the result of legal action filed by Joel Moskowitz, PhD, Director and Principal Investigator, Center for Family and Community Health at UC Berkeley. Note: In a blow to the cell phone industry, Governor Jerry Brown vetoed California Senate Bill 649 that would have granted the ability of cell phone companies to install 5G small cell antennas in front of people’s homes without any local city involvement in the issuing of permits. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has revised and tightened their recommendations to parents to reduce exposure of their children to radiation from cell phones, based upon the National Toxicology Program study linked to in the next item. The AAP also updated their Healthy Children Webpage on Cell Phones in their article entitled, “Cell Phone Radiation & Children’s Health: What Parents Need to Know.”

Note: A groundbreaking study from the National Toxicology Program (NTP) has found an increase in cancer in rats from whole body exposure to radio frequency radiation used for cell phones and other wireless devices. This is being heralded both within the EMF Safety Communcity and in some of the mainstream media as a game changing event. Note: Research suggests that when a fetus is exposed to wireless frequencies when a pregnant woman uses a cell phone at close range, that child has a statistically higher chance of developing behavioral, cognitive and learning impairment when they become teenagers. Note: Nineteen scientists from around the world met at the Fifth Paris Appeals Congress on May 18, 2015, sponsored by the Royal Academy of Medicine, Belgium, and the European Cancer and Environment Research Institute (ECERI), to discuss, “A focus on Electrohypersensitivity (EHS) and Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS); Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance: What Role for Electromagnetic Fields and Chemicals?” The attendees voted unanimously to write an international declaration to request the World Health Organization (WHO) to designate Electrical Hypersensitivity (EHS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) as officially recognized diseases in its International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Note: “Researchers Conclude Wireless Radiation Causes Cancer After Latest Scientific Findings Announced”. Sweden’s Lennart Hardell, MD, PhD, and Michael Carlberg found a three-fold increase in cancer risk over 25 years of cell and cordless phone use, particularly in those who started before the age of 20. Based upon this and other research, the National Association for Children and Safe Technology (NACST) has launched a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of the dangers of wireless technologies in educational settings. Note: The French National Assembly voted January 29, 2015 to address the health effects of wireless technologies, a first for any nation of this scale. Wi-Fi is banned in all daycare centers and nurseries, Wi-Fi is to be disabled in all primary school classrooms when not in use, and all new permits for cell phone towers must be announced to local officials who can organize a review and challenge by the public for health reasons. Advertisements for cell phones must accompany hands-free options and are banned when targeting children under 14. The European Economic and Social Committee, a “consultative body of the European Union” that provides “a bridge between Europe and organized civil society”, is holding a day-long public hearing in Brussels on the issue November 4, 2014. Note: The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) issued sweeping reforms in May 2011 to reduce exposure by European citizens to cell phones and other EMFs in an effort to protect their health and reduce burgeoning health care costs of member countries’ national health plans.
